Visiting London, the other weekend I could not wish for a more magnificent nest than the haymarket hotel situated in the heart of London’s theatre district next door to the famous Haymarket Theatre Royal. Its charm though does not only lie in the prime location but the hotel itself; all rooms have been designed in an individual style by Kit Kemp in her fresh modern English style. Our spacious suite reflected laid-back British elegance accompanied with a playful edge. Some of you might noticed that I’m especially falling for pretty bathrooms.
Well, guess what, it was one of the most wonderful and brightest marble bathrooms with a bathtub you can actually watch the TV from ever. It was the bathroom of my dreams, indeed.
Another soft spot of mine is breakfast. Haymarket Hotel nailed it too. My gluten-free blueberry pancake was heavenly. The buffet included all kinds of pastries and granola with gluten free options, a wide selection of fresh fruits and yoghurts. The A la carte menu featured pancake, smoothies, French toast and several egg-based dishes served in wedgewood porcelain. Its playful patterns made them divine and serene at the same time.
The highlight of our stay was the pool area featuring a spa and a bar. There is a spectacular lighting scheme that uses strong contrasts of light and shadow and an ever-changing colourful light installation by Martin Richman. For those that cannot bear with London’s special characteristic; the rain, it’s a perfect option to stay in and enjoy a film in the spa’s screen while sipping cocktails.
